Why Buy ARI Performance Certified systems
Central air conditioning and air-source heat pumps systems that are certified through ARI’s program have been tested and their performance verified by an independent laboratory, assuring consumers that the product will perform according to the manufacturer's product claims.
How do air conditioning systems earn the ARI Performance Certified mark?
Manufacturers voluntarily participate in the ARI’s certification program. ARI uses an independent lab and a standardized test known as
ARI Standard 210/240
, to test the actual performance of the system. Products that are tested may then earn the right to bear the ARI Performance Certified mark and are listed in our product directory. Most importantly, both units of a split air conditioning or air-source heat pump system must be listed in
ARI’s Directory of Certified Product Performance
to be considered a certified matched system that will achieve its certified energy efficiency rating.
Which manufacturers have earned the mark?
We update our list of certified products and manufacturers continually in our
searchable, online directory.
The directory lists all certified air conditioning and air source heat pumps systems and their certified energy efficiency ratings.
How can I be assured my system is a certified match?
If you have a split air conditioning or air source heat pump system, both of the two units that make up your system must be listed in the ARI Directory of Certified Product Performance for the ARI Performance Certified mark to be valid. To check, ask your air conditioning installer or technician to provide you with either an ARI Reference Number or Certificate of ARI Certified Performance. The ARI Reference Number is your system’s unique identifier in the directory and can be entered to pull up your system’s certified efficiency ratings. The certificate provides a hard copy of the ARI Reference Number and the system’s certified efficiency ratings, which can be used to obtain utility rebates and tax credits.
